What is 9D Breathwork?

9D Breathwork is an immersive guided session that blends breathwork, multi-dimensional sound and subconscious reprogramming to unlock deep stress release and nervous system regulation in a safe, guided experience.

If you've been feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or stuck in patterns you can't seem to shift, you're not alone. And you might have just found exactly what your nervous system has been asking for.

9D Breathwork isn't simply another wellness trend. It's a scientifically-backed, deeply immersive modality that combines the ancient wisdom of breathwork with modern sound technology to create profound shifts in your mind, body and nervous system.

Unlike meditation apps or traditional breathwork classes, 9D offers a fully guided, multi-sensory experience that meets you exactly where you are. Whether you're seeking stress relief, emotional release, or simply a chance to feel like yourself again.

9D Breathwork: A deeper understanding

9D Breathwork is a deeply immersive healing journey that blends conscious breathwork, multidimensional sound and subconscious reprogramming to create powerful emotional, mental and energetic shifts.

Think of it as a full-body reset - a guided experience where your breath, your nervous system and your subconscious finally get the space they need to unwind, release and open.

Unlike traditional breathwork, 9D weaves together:

  • Binaural beats to influence brainwave states

  • Solfeggio frequencies to support emotional release

  • Subliminal and guided affirmations for subconscious rewiring

  • Sound healing and music that carry you through the journey

  • Hypnotic-style guidance to help soften inner resistance

  • Conscious connected breathing to move energy through the body.

The result? A journey that feels deeply personal, even in a group setting.

You’re guided from start to finish (supported, safe and held) while the sound healing and breathwork work together to shift what your body has been holding.

At Kora Wellness, you can choose between activating journeys (energising, transformational, emotional release) and down-regulating journeys (rest, repair, nervous system reset). Both pathways lead you toward clarity, balance and a deeper connection to self.

How 9D breathwork differs from traditional breathwork?

If you’ve tried breathwork before (or you’re thinking about it), you might be wondering what makes 9D Breathwork so different and why so many people describe it as a deeper, more complete experience than traditional breathwork alone.

Both approaches can be powerful. But the way they work on the body and subconscious mind is very different.

Quick answer: what makes 9D breathwork different?

9D Breathwork differs from traditional breathwork because it combines guided breathwork with multi-sensory sound technology, subconscious reprogramming, and nervous system-based pacing - creating a private, immersive experience through noise-cancelling headphones.

Traditional breathwork vs 9D breathwork
(side-by-side comparison)

Traditional breathwork

Breath patterns only

Self-guided or basic facilitation

May feel intense without structure

Limited subconscious access

Group energy can be distracting

Variable session length

9D breathwork

Breath + multi-sensory sound technology

Fully guided journey with trauma-informed support

Carefully paced with emotional arcs

Direct subconscious reprogramming through audio

Noise-cancelling headphones create private experience

Structured 60–90 minute journeys

The real difference: traditional breathwork is breath-led, 9D is subconscious-led.

Traditional breathwork typically focuses on breath patterns to move energy and emotion through the body. This can be deeply healing — but it can also feel intense for people with anxiety, stress, trauma, or a nervous system that stays “on alert.”

9D Breathwork is designed to work with your breath and your subconscious mind at the same time.

It doesn’t rely solely on the breath to create transformation. It guides your nervous system through a structured internal journey — with sound technology and subconscious suggestion doing a large part of the work.

The biggest difference? The headphones create a private internal experience

One of the most noticeable differences is that 9D Breathwork is done using noise-cancelling headphones.

In many traditional breathwork sessions, you can hear other people breathing, coughing, crying, moving, or releasing. For some, that group energy feels supportive.

For others, it can be distracting — especially if your body stays hyper-aware of what’s happening around you.

With 9D, the headphones create a sense of privacy and containment, helping you drop inward faster and stay connected to your own process.

It feels like your nervous system can finally exhale, because you’re not “watching the room.”

More structure = less overwhelm and deeper emotional safety

Traditional breathwork can vary a lot depending on the facilitator and style. Some sessions feel powerful, but unstructured — and for some people, that can lead to emotional intensity without clear resolution.

9D Breathwork is different.

Each journey is intentionally designed with a beginning, emotional progression, and integration phase. It is carefully paced to support the nervous system rather than push it too hard too fast.

That structure matters, because your body can only release what it feels safe enough to process.

9D breathwork includes subconscious reprogramming, not just emotional release

Traditional breathwork can help bring emotion to the surface, but it doesn’t always include tools that guide the mind through what to do with what comes up.

9D Breathwork includes layered audio technology that supports subconscious healing, including:

  • hypnotic-style voice guidance

  • binaural beats and frequency-based sound

  • emotional cueing and nervous system pacing

  • subconscious reprogramming prompts

  • integration and resolution stages.

This means you’re not only releasing emotion, you’re also shifting the pattern underneath it.

So which one is better?

Both traditional breathwork and 9D breathwork can be life-changing.

But if you want an experience that blends breath with sound technology, subconscious healing, and nervous system-based structure, 9D is often the more immersive and supportive option, especially if you’re seeking emotional release with deeper integration.

Your questions about 9D breathwork, answered

  • 9D Breathwork works by engaging three levels of your system at once: the breath, the subconscious mind, and the energy body.

    1. The Breath (Physical Level)
You’re guided through conscious connected breathing - a rhythmic pattern that increases oxygenation, activates emotional release and supports nervous system regulation. This breath helps shift stuck tension and opens deeper states of presence with research showing that controlled breathing patterns can significantly reduce anxiety and activate the parasympathetic nervous system [1].

    2. The Audio (Neurological Level)
You wear noise-cancelling headphones that create a private, immersive sound field just for you. Inside the audio journey are:

    • binaural beats (Binaural beats have been shown to influence brainwave states and support relaxation [2]).

    • solfeggio frequencies

    • layered music

    • hypnotic cues

    • themed affirmations

    • subliminal messages

    • nature frequencies

    • emotional arcs woven into the soundtrack

Each element has a purpose: to help you drop out of your thinking mind and into the deeper layers where healing happens.

    3. The Subconscious (Emotional Level)
As the breath softens your defences, the sound gently speaks to the subconscious. Visualisations, messaging and emotional arcs guide you through release, insight or deep rest…whatever your system needs.

    4. The Energetics (Subtle Body Level)
Your facilitator supports the room with trauma-informed presence. Some sessions include optional energy work or light touch to calm the system, reinforce safety or help the body complete an emotional cycle.

    5. The Journey Arc
Each session follows a carefully crafted structure:

    • grounding

    • breath practice

    • guided breathing

    • emotional or energetic peak

    • slow return

    • integration

    • stillness

This arc allows the body to release safely while the mind and nervous system are held.

At Kora Wellness, journeys run between 60–90 minutes and are tailored to support activation, emotional release or deep parasympathetic rest depending on what your system is calling for.

  • Yes - and for many people, this is the primary reason they try 9D Breathwork.

Stress and anxiety often show up as:

    • racing thoughts

    • tightness in the chest

    • feeling “on edge”

    • difficulty resting or switching off

    • emotional overwhelm

    • chronic tension in the body.

9D Breathwork helps interrupt these cycles by guiding the body out of fight-or-flight and into deep parasympathetic rest.

    Down-regulating journeys, in particular, use:

    • slow rhythmic breath

    • calming frequencies

    • soft hypnotic cues

    • grounding visualisations

    • gentle nervous system resets.

Activating journeys help move the deeper emotional charge that often fuels chronic stress, allowing the body to release tension that talking alone cannot access.

    Over time, people often report:

    • better sleep

    • improved emotional resilience

    • clearer thinking

    • less reactivity

    • a sense of “coming back home” in their body.

  • Absolutely! 9D Breathwork is intentionally designed to be safe, supportive and accessible, even if you’ve never done breathwork before.

From the moment you walk into the studio, your facilitator guides you through:

    • How the breath pattern works

    • What sensations may arise

    • What to do if anything feels intense

    • How to soften, slow down or adjust at any time

    • How to ground back into your body when needed.

You’re shown exactly how to breathe, given a gentle practice round and supported step-by-step throughout the entire journey. There is no pressure to perform, no expectation to “get it right,” and absolutely no forcing.

You remain in control the entire time; your pace, your breath, your process.

Many first-timers actually find 9D easier than traditional breathwork because the multidimensional audio guides them naturally, almost like being carried through the experience.

  • 9D Breathwork can support transformation on multiple layers - emotional, physical, mental and energetic. Many people come to Kora when they feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or stuck in patterns they can’t seem to shift on their own.

    This work can help you:

    • Release stored emotions sitting in the body

    • Calm and regulate an overwhelmed nervous system

    • Shift patterns of anxiety or looping thoughts

    • Reprogram limiting beliefs that keep you small

    • Feel more grounded, centred and present

    • Reignite creativity, motivation and clarity

    • Connect more deeply to intuition and inner guidance

Activating journeys help clear stagnation, reconnect you with vitality, and support emotional release in a structured, safe and guided way.

Down-regulating journeys calm the entire system, offering deep rest and relief from stress, burnout, hypervigilance and emotional overload.

Most people describe 9D Breathwork as feeling like a reset for the mind and body. Something they didn’t realise they needed until they felt the difference.

  • A 9D session at Kora is structured but spacious; a gentle arc designed to help your body feel safe enough to release.

    Here’s the flow:

    1. Arrival & welcoming
You’re greeted by your facilitator and invited to settle in. If it’s your first time, we’ll answer any questions, explain what to expect and help you choose a comfortable spot to lie down.

    2. Orientation & breath practice
    Before anything begins, we:

    • Introduce the theme of the journey

    • Explain the specific breathing pattern

    • Walk you through the physical sensations you may feel

    • Give you a short practice round so your body understands the rhythm

You’ll never be asked to do anything unfamiliar without preparation.

    3. Getting Comfortable
    You can choose:

    • A blanket

    • An eye mask

    • Noise-cancelling headphones

    • Pillows for support

We also check whether you are comfortable receiving supportive, optional energetic touch during moments of emotional intensity.

    4. The Journey
Once the music begins, the headphones guide you through:

    • A grounding meditation

    • Conscious connected breathing

    • Sound frequencies and binaural beats

    • Hypnotic cues

    • Subliminal messages

    • Visualisation and belief rewiring

    • Emotional release or deep rest, depending on the journey

Some tracks include breath holds, optional vocal release, or specific pacing cues - always guided and optional.

    5. Completion & Integration
    The journey closes with:

    • Soft music

    • A slow return to natural breathing

    • Gentle stillness

    • Time to reflect

    • Optional sharing or questions

You’re then offered a warm tea to help ground the body and reconnect with the space around you.

Many people describe the end as feeling peaceful, spacious, or like something heavy finally loosened.

  • Most sessions run 60–90 minutes, depending on the journey type.

    This includes:

    • Opening grounding

    • Breathwork practice

    • The full 9D immersion

    • A slow return

    • Integration time

    • Space for questions, sharing or reflection

Longer journeys allow subconscious work to unfold gently and naturally, without rushing emotional release or forcing the body into intensity before it’s ready.

If you’re new, sensitive, or nervous, shorter sessions are available to help your body ease into the work with full safety and support.

  • Yes. Because 9D Breathwork can create strong physiological and emotional shifts, some conditions require additional care.

We recommend seeking medical advice first if you have, or experience:

    • Cardiovascular conditions (e.g. high/low blood pressure, arrhythmia, history of heart attack)

    • Epilepsy or seizure disorders

    • Severe or unmanaged mental health conditions (e.g. schizophrenia, psychosis – not suitable if in active psychosis)

    • Pregnancy (not suitable if pregnant)

    • History of stroke or traumatic brain injury

    • Glaucoma or retinal detachment

    • Asthma (please bring your inhaler when attending)

    • Recent surgery or injuries aggravated by deep breathing or movement

    • Use of medications that alter breathing, awareness or mood regulation

    • Any medical or psychological condition that may be worsened by stress or intense breathwork.

This doesn’t mean you can’t attend - but you may be better suited to a down-regulating session or a more personalised, gentle 1:1.

Your wellbeing always comes first, and we’re happy to help you choose the safest option.
